What was wonderful about the John was that he always lived life to the full - whilst he was in work and after retirement.

Every time I spoke to John he always had loads of trips away planned, whether it be around the world or in this country. His enthusiasm for trips never diminished, whether it be a trip he had organised himself or if it has been organised by somebody else. No matter how many trips he had planned, there was always room for one more.
